Students Access to Internet Resources

We understand our student come from poor segments of our community and may need technological assistance to continue with their education during the “distance learning periods required by COVID-19.

We have assigned our new Director of Technology and Innovation, Mr. Carlos Acevedo to prepare and staff the Computer Lab for its opening for those students not having access to the internet or the necessary technological devices to continue their education by way of distance education during this temporary emergency period. If students come to use the computer lab, then the computer and all its equipment will be cleaned and sanitized prior to being used again.

Cleaning and Sanitation of our Facilities and Buildings

We have assigned our Director of Human Resources, Ms. Maria Alas, to spearhead the efforts of staying abreast of the standards needed to be met to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including cleaning and sanitizing our facilities and buildings to the highest level required by CDC and other relevant authorities.

Deep Clean and Sanitize (DCS) Each FEI Building

Over the next week, we will have our maintenance and janitorial personnel (MJP) Deep Clean and Sanitize (DCS) each FEI building.  A log is to be maintained each time DCS is accomplished.   In between DCS, those employed or contracted for MJP will do regular and up to hourly cleaning of certain high-exposure areas (i.e., bathroom, lobby, door handles, etc.).  These types of cleanings will depend on the level of activity at the building.

FEI Buildings and Openings

Our school building will remain open for certain reasons (i.e., computer lab access, food distribution, employee and faculty professional growth and planning, management meetings, etc.).  Hours of operations will be announced and likely abbreviated hours.

Surveys

We will survey everyone coming into FEI buildings for safety reasons.

Travel to Hot Zones Around the World

Any student or employee traveling hot zones as determined by the CDC or State Department, will not be allowed to enter FEI building until they are quarantine for at least 14 days and receive medical clearance.  Employees will have not be part of our payroll during such after-travel period.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS:

Continuation of your Education and Learning:

Temporary Delivery of Instruction via Online Education due to COVID-19

FEI will deliver instruction to students via online distance education for those periods of time when they must be separated from their class instructor due to COVID-19.  FEI will accomplish this by supporting regular and substantive interaction between the students and the instructor.

Student Technological Preparation for Emergency Online Education

We were planning to start providing instruction to our students on Monday, March 16, on the use of technological devices and the procedures we will implement so that they can continue their education online during this emergency COVID-19 period.  Unfortunately, the speed of the crisis has forced us to start the actual online education process on Monday March 16, 2020.

We will then be working with students on a one-to-one basis to determine if they have to come in to receive instructions.  We will do all we can to provide the instruction via mobile devices by way of each respective students’ instructor. Expect contact from your instructor and any questions you may contact your instructor via email or text, or you may contact us via the following:
